The Pros and Cons of Independent Record Label Deals The Pros and Cons of Independent Record Label Deals With regards to getting a record bargain, finding the correct fit with a name is basic however is a non mainstream or a significant record organization a superior fit for you? To begin with, you have to know the distinction. The normal impression of a record label is one of the significant record marks, situated in Los Angeles or New York, which signs the entirety of the significant players. These significant record marks, including Sony and Capitol Records, are significant enterprises with a huge number of dollars behind them. This permits them to completely finance the greatest craftsmen out there. According to rising specialists, a record manage a significant name was consistently the large prize to pursue. Be that as it may, the significant music industry is in a coma with the presentation of online interpersonal organizations and computerized music retail locations, for example, iTunes, Rhapsody, and Amazon-and the way that significant discharges are frequently spilled to the web a long time before their discharge day. Enter the Indie (short for Independent) mark. What Makes a Record Label 'Outside the box'? Any music recording mark that works without the financing of the associations of the significant music names is viewed as an outside the box name. While significant marks are worldwide and work their own distributing and circulation organizations, outside the box names work with other littler organizations, either in long haul associations or in littler legally binding connections for their dissemination and distributing needs. The Indie Niche While independent names can't offer the sort of financing for specialists that the significant names can, due to the advantages, outside the box mark contracts are quick turning into another objective for some craftsmen and an increasingly sensible objective at that. What's more, they do offer numerous advantages that the Big Guys cant. On account of the considerable number of upsides (and the heightening pattern toward web-based social networking and advanced stages that is not subsiding), non mainstream marks have made a genuine specialty for themselves. Lets investigate the advantages (and the drawbacks) of working with an outside the box, and look at the upsides and downsides of working with a significant mark for an entire 360 view. The Pros of Working With an Indie Label Non mainstream names for the most part have the opportunity to work with whomever they like. Theres no weight like youd find at significant names to forfeit your preferences for favor of looking for diagram achievement. At the point when you are marked to an outside the box name, in pretty much every case this is on the grounds that the name is an enormous devotee of your music; that converts into commitment since they have faith in what youre doing. Close Working Relationships Since outside the box names have littler staffs and more tight lists, performers can all the more effectively build up a cozy relationship with the individuals taking a shot at their record. In spite of the fact that its not generally the case that craftsmen can get the telephone and find a quick solution, the chances of nearer correspondence are more prominent than they are with a significant mark. Craftsman Friendly Deals Some bigger non mainstream names have moderately complex agreements, yet littler non mainstream players frequently work together on minimal in excess of a handshake and a benefit split understanding. You rarely discover outside the box names requesting any proportion of imaginative authority over their specialists, and most non mainstream players dont lock their craftsmen into long haul, multi-collection contracts. The Cons ofWorking Withan Indie Label Independent names are not without their downsides. Consider the accompanying before you choose who you need to sign with. Cash While cash is the top motivation to sign with a significant name, it certainly beat the rundown of negatives for non mainstream players. While some non mainstream marks are sitting pretty monetarily, most little activities are simply attempting to remain above water. They for the most part dont have the coffers to finance a full scale media rush like the significant marks, and they frequently need to get innovative with advancement thoughts. They additionally cant bear the cost of huge advances, extravagant bundling, huge account spending plans, visit support, and different advantages a significant name has the assets to offer you. With independent marks, youll for the most part need to remain monetarily put resources into your own music vocation. Confusion Only one out of every odd outside the box mark is complicated, yet the casual idea of tasks at numerous littler independent names implies a few components can get a slight bit befuddling. As a craftsman, you may find that subtleties may in some cases get lost in an outright flood, or it might be difficult to make sense of procedures that arent very formalized, such as bookkeeping, for example. Size Despite the fact that the private size of outside the box names has its upside as far as closer and progressively open connections, there is additionally a drawback to being little. Independents dont have the buying intensity of significant names, and with a little program, they have less strings to pull with the press. Additionally, the littler the mark, the less impact, and force inside the music business.

OSHA Construction vs General Industry Which Do You Need
OSHA Construction vs General Industry Which Do You Need OSHA Construction vs General Industry: Which Do You Need? Training is a critical requirement for OSHA compliance. But it can be a daunting task to figure out who needs OSHA training, what kind, and how much. Below, well break down different types of OSHA training and who needs what. Why is OSHA Training Necessary? Since 1971, OSHA has adopted and enforced safety standards to protect workers from work-related injury, illness, and death. As part of that mission, employers have to train workers on how to do their job safely. You have to teach them about OSHA safety standards and how to comply. The requirement isnt theoreticalâ"OSHA compliance officers will check during an inspection. They have to verify that employees have received training, that they understood it, and that the training adequately addressed the requirements and intent of OSHA standards. In other words, paperwork isnt enough. The training has to be effective and comprehensive for each employee. The most hassle-free option is to use an OSHA-authorized training provider. Outreach courses typically cover the basics for an industryâ"10-Hour courses for workers, 30-Hour courses for supervisors and managers. Employers are also responsible for adding task-specific training for each worker according to their duties. Its worth noting that the type of work dictates the training you need, not the type of employer. If you ask a maintenance worker to perform construction or repair, youre legally responsible for making sure they know how to safely complete that work. Sometimes theres a fine line between maintenance and construction. The scale and complexity of the job matters. What is OSHA Construction Training? OSHA Construction training addresses the specific safety needs of construction sites. It covers 29 CFR 1926 (the construction-specific standards) and some of 1910 (general standards). Who Needs OSHA Construction Training? You need OSHA Construction training if youre a construction worker or a contractor. Entry-level workers need OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Outreach Training. Workers may need additional training for specialized work. Anyone with supervisory responsibilities should take OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Outreach Training. That includes foremen, engineers, supervisors, project managers, and safety specialists. What Topics Does OSHA Construction Training Cover? OSHA 10-Hour courses typically cover general topics like Introduction to OSHA, General Safety and Health Provisions, and Hazard Communication. Then they focus on construction-specific concerns: Cranes and Rigging, Electrical Safety, Struck-By, Caught In/Between, Fall Protection, Power Tools, Scaffolding, and Ladders, as well as the personal protective equipment needed to keep workers safe. OSHA requires specific training before employees perform specialized work, including Confined Space Entry, Concrete and Masonry, Use of Explosives, or Excavation Safety. Most heavy equipment requires its own training, as well. Those topics dont appear in the 10-Hour course, but theyre often rolled into 30-Hour courses since supervisors are responsible for workers with a range of duties. What is OSHA General Industry Training? OSHA has specific standards for Construction, Maritime, and Agriculture. Any other employer or worker falls into the catchall of General Industry. That means the category covers everyone from manufacturing to office work. OSHA General Industry training covers standards in 29 CFR 1910. Who Needs OSHA General Industry Training? The broad nature of General Industry makes this one a little more difficult to answer. All employers have to conduct some basic workplace safety training. In low-risk industries, that wont involve anything as extensive as a 10-Hour course. There are no universal rules for who requires 10-Hour or 30-Hour courses (sometimes known as a DOL Card). Certain states or types of employers require it, so check local and industry practices. Generally speaking, workers in higher-risk fields need OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Training. That includes healthcare, factory operations, manufacturing, and warehousing. Any workers that perform specialized tasks regulated under 1910 will need additional coursework. Foremen, engineers, supervisors, project managers, and safety specialists will need OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Outreach Training. What Topics Does OSHA General Industry Training Cover? OSHA 10-Hour courses largely cover universal topics: Introduction to OSHA, General Safety and Health Provisions, Emergency Plans, Personal Protective Equipment, and Hazard Communication. A few of the topics are general to industrial work like Electrical and Machine Guarding Safety. Topics that require additional training are as varied as Bloodborne Pathogens, Ionizing and Non-Ionizing Radiation, Confined Spaces, Welding and Cutting, and Petroleum Refining. Most heavy equipment requires its own training, as well. Those topics dont appear in the 10-Hour course, but theyre often rolled into OSHA 30-Hour courses since supervisors are responsible for workers with a range of duties. Are There Other OSHA Standards? There are two other industry-specific standards, aside from Construction: Maritime and Agriculture. What are OSHA Maritime Standards? OSHA Maritime standards cover shipyards (29 CFR 1915), marine terminals (1917), and longshoring (1918). Gear certification standards (1919) apply to all three. Like Construction and General Industry, Maritime Outreach Training programs are available from authorized providers in the form of 10-Hour and 30-Hour courses. Youll notice we didnt mention coverage of things like fishing vessels or oil tankers. Thats because the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) protects the safety and health of employees on most maritime vessels. OSHAs anti-discrimination and whistleblower provisions still apply. But specific safety standards and inspections are the USCGs responsibility. What are OSHA Agriculture Standards? OSHA Agriculture standards are laid out in 29 CFR 1928. They address agriculture-specific hazards like the use of farm equipment and exposure to inhalants. General Industry standards (1910) also apply. No agriculture-specific Outreach Training program exists. Instead, OSHA has a list of recommended resources. Some OSHA-authorized training providers offer adapted versions of General Industry training, as well. Anything Else? OSHA authorizes Disaster Site Worker Outreach Training as well, though no separate standards exist. The training addresses the specific dangers of natural or man-made disasters. In the same way that the USGS regulates maritime vessels, a few other industries are regulated by specialized federal agencies instead of OSHA. This includes the Department of Energy and the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Employers in those industries still have to educate workers about their rights under OSHA, but the other agencies handle specific safety standards and inspections. What About Other Health Safety Threats? The General Duty Clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act says employers have to protect workers from all recognized hazards. This means theyre duty-bound to minimize risks that OSHA hasnt spelled out, once theyre aware they exist. This allows OSHA to hold employers responsible for health and safety issues that arent technically a violation of any particular standard. Bottom Line OSHA training is crucial to both legal compliance and the safety of your workforce. These days, you can provide workers with online OSHA coursework instead of classroom training. It offers flexible scheduling and a self-paced experience for individual workers. Its also more efficient, consistent, and cost-effective. Were a leading OSHA-authorized provider with over fifteen years of experience. We can also handle your other safety training needs, like DOT and MSHA. Ask the Recruiter Part Four
Ask the Recruiter Part Four During the current weeks last post in the Ask the Recruiter series, I interviewed Winnie Corton. She has held a few human asset jobs in the money related administrations, retail, pharmaceutical, and not revenue driven parts and most as of late she was a selection representative for Citigroup. What is your greatest meeting annoyance and why? Occupation searchers must be set up for the meeting. They must arrive on time (and not 30 minutes prior), a have duplicates of their resume. Occupation searchers ought to be set up to round out business applications. I propose they set up a rundown of earlier situations with dates of business, full location, chiefs name, phone number, and beginning/finishing pay and convey it with them. What is your greatest resume annoyance and why? I have two or three bothers, yet in the event that I needed to pick one, it would be a resume connection that cant be opened. Occupation searchers should spare their resumes as Word reports. They ought to send the recor d to an old buddy and request that they open the connection and survey the resume for appearance and content.Do you read introductory letters? Why or why not? A selection representative ordinarily takes 15 seconds to audit each resume. We dont have the opportunity to peruse every cover letter. I possibly read introductory letters when I am keen on the activity searchers continue. In any case, an introductory letter must be close to 3 fresh sections any longer and I wont peruse it.If somebody has a hole in their sequence how would you suggest they manage that issue on their resume? Indeed, it is critical to address gaps in employment. I recommend they remember a clarification for the resume. For instance, huge corporate cutting back, reference accessible; left because of migration to (city/state); left to deal with sick relative, and so forth.

Book review The customer comes second - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog
Book audit The client comes next - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog The title of this book is an intentional incitement. After unlimited messages about putting the client first, Hal Rosenbluth, CEO of Rosenbluth International, says you should put your kin first and watchem kick butt. (Rosenbluth International is a world head in corporate travel the board, with over 5.000 individuals in excess of 50 nations). A similar rule works so well for Southwest Airlines, as depicted in the book Nuts!. What's more, to be sure there is by all accounts numerous similitudes between the methodologies taken by Southwest and Rosenbluth, and the outcomes they accomplish. The two organizations appreciate gigantic money related achievement. The two of them lead their business sectors in nature of administration and consumer loyalty. The two of them have a persuaded, caring work power, ready to go far for their clients, one another and the network. The two of them care profoundly about individuals, and endeavor to make work a spot where individuals learn, have a ton of fun and develop. The two of them enlist individuals who have the correct character, and afterward train them to have the correct ability. The book varies from the Southwest book in its structure, and has all the more a how-to design. There are sections on recruiting individuals, on learning, on administration and on organizations. Toward the finish of every part, the remarkable focuses are summed up. Huge numbers of Rosenbluths approaches and strategies presumably work just for them, yet numerous others could be lifted straight into most organizations, where they would make moment benefits for the two individuals and the main concern. The book has exceptionally moving epilog, that recounts to the narrative of how Rosenbluth took care of occasions after 9/11. Their business actually vanished for the time being. No one was voyaging anyplace. Unequivocal activity was required, and they needed to fire several individuals. As I would see it, a companys responsibility to its qualities are tried generally in affliction. What's more, Rosenbluth positively showed the quality of its dedication its kin. At the point when the cutbacks and leaves of absence were reported, individuals responded by intentionally offering to work for less cash. Individuals who could manage the cost of it solicited to be furloughed rather from partners who couldnt bear the cost of it. Pioneers took pay cuts, so less of their kin would need to be terminated. Also, the individuals who were laid off stopped by Hal Rosenbluths office in enormous numbers to express gratitude toward him and the organization for the great occasions. I experience seen different organizations in difficulty, and trust me, this kind of conduct isn't normal. The epilog contains a few letters composed by Hal Rosenbluth to his workers, and the devotion to the organization and love for his kin obvious in those letters is genuinely moving. Rosenbluth recuperated, and was soon ready to bring back the majority of the individuals laid off. Which is the thing that individuals had been endeavoring to accomplish. I think theres a long way to go from Rosenbluth International, and the manner in which they work together, and this book makes it simple to gain from them. I suggest it exceptionally! Your Career Objective on Resume
Your Career Objective on ResumeIf you're not sure if a career objective on resume is the best way to tell employers what you're looking for, you're in luck. There are a lot of ways to change the wording and approach you use on your resume so that you're sure that it stands out and tells a recruiter what you want. Let's look at some of the things you can do with a career objective on resume and how you can make a difference. The first thing that needs to be noted is that this is an important part of your resume. It should contain information that will help recruiters decide what to look for when they take a look at your resume. In particular, you need to describe your highest level of achievement in your career. Remember, the recruiter may have been interviewing someone else, but he or she still has the same goal: to find the best candidate possible. The second step is to describe your career objectives as they pertain to your target job duties. For example, if you're applying for a car eer change that involves working more closely with clients, you'll want to include details about the kinds of tasks you would perform as part of the new role. At the same time, you also need to describe what your options are if you are not able to perform those tasks. Again, it helps to clarify what you are trying to accomplish in the career change. The next step is to provide the specific details of your career goals as they relate to your target job duties. This is where you list out your career objectives for each position that you are applying for. You want to be specific, and most likely this means that you won't need to follow the same format as that used for a college paper. Just give the objective in the broadest possible terms. The next step is to list out your accomplishments over the last several years in a section that does include track record. Again, this is not a professional requirement, but it does help the recruiter to understand where you want to go in your career. You should only include your personal details in this section.Once you have listed out all of your achievements, go back and make sure that you've included all of the relevant details about your personal and previous work experience. The entire purpose of a resume is to tell an employer what you're looking for, so make sure that you don't leave anything out. At the same time, the recruiter wants to see if you have the right kind of experience, so it is better to provide all of your details than to simply skip over the details you don't want to highlight. Finally, explain why you're interested in the position to which you're applying, and be sure to spell it out. You should also include details about any hobbies or personal interests that will add to the professional environment that you're seeking. It's also a good idea to note if you have any special skills that would be useful to the new employer.Your career objective on resume will not only help the recruiter decide if your resume is well-written, but it can help you land the job you want. It is very important that you make your objective on resume stand out, and this means that you need to tailor it specifically to the kind of position you're seeking. You should also make sure that you supply the same details about each job that you've held.

Employee accused of fatally poisoning 21 coworkers food
Worker blamed for lethally harming 21 collaborators' food Worker blamed for lethally harming 21 collaborators' food For the majority of us, our greatest office food ghastliness are negligible complaints like that partner who continues eating your sandwich. Yet, another case in Germany goes past somebody taking a fixing from the workplace refrigerator. As per ABC News, one representative is associated with slaughtering 21 of his partners by harming their lunches.Coworker associated with harming associate's lunchesThe doubt started when a 26-year-old worker saw an obscure white powder on his sandwich and revealed it to his supervisor. The organization, a metal fitting firm, at that point introduced a CCTV camera to screen who was sprinkling powder on worker's snacks. The camera purportedly uncovered that a 56-year-old representative had been opening lunch boxes and tidying powder on them, police said. Lab results demonstrated that the powder contained lead acetic acid derivation, a poison that could cause serious organ damage. In the start, we thought it was a confused trick between colleagues, and n ot a homicide endeavor, firm director Tilo Blechinger told DPA, a German news agency. What would spur somebody to hurt their collaborators like this? That is as yet being explored. Distinguished distinctly as Klaus O by police and portrayed as prominently subtle by his administrator, the speculate had poisonous synthetic compounds like mercury, mercury, lead and cadmium in his home after police looked through his loft. The suspect was a long-lasting representative who had been at the organization for a long time, putting passings that had happened during those decades in another evil light. Altogether, police said they were investigating 21 instances of workers kicking the bucket under dubious situation since 2000.This isn't the first occasion when that a representative has utilized the apparently honest vessel of office food to showcase their retribution on colleagues. A month ago, a lady prepared diuretic bound brownies for a colleague's goodbye party. Anyway severe and secure your office condition is, each associate needs to take part in the helpless demonstration of eating food. Eating is the place we put our watchman down and believe that the food we put in our mouths is simply the food we stuffed that morning. Be that as it may, in some cases. as these cases advise us, that trust can be lethally lost.

The problem with personality types testing yourself rarely works
The problem with personality types testing yourself rarely works A few months ago I did an experiment. I usually charge $350 for a coaching session, and at that fee I let people pick the time they want to talk. But then I said that if people booked the session at 7am or 10pm I would discount the cost to $150. Nearly overnight I was booked for three months solid. Heres what Ive learned: 1. Theres a really dirty underbelly in Silicon Valley. Asperger hot houses of IQ discrimination, sex slave enthusiasts with one or two startups under their belt, and Luddite / Mormon / Mennonites who work at Google but dont let their wives leave home without complete body coverage. If you think Im exaggerating, read this piece in Vanity Fair. If you want to coach the people in these cesspools of intellect, their sweet spot seems to be $150 an hour. 2. Self-administered personality tests yield inaccurate results. Fortune 500 companies adore personality type tests, because they ensure only leaders get trained to lead. And entrepreneurs love personality type because one bad hire can kill an early-stage startup. So when I am coaching for $350, most people have taken a personality test through work, with some expensive consultant administering the test. And the test results are usually correct. But at the $150 price point most people do not have the kind of job where your boss hires someone to give you the test. So they just give the test to yourself. This is when personality testing doesnt quite work. You have to know how to answer the quiz relative to everyone else in the world. So when you get the question: I am never late. True or false? If the person is a fanatic about being late and they were late once last year, they might say false. And if someone doesnt really notice late or not late, they will think they are probably on time because no one has fired them for it yet, so they will say true. Each decision point is just like this one. I know its an extreme example, but the same is true if you answer, on a scale of 1 -10 how true is the statement I like social gatherings. For questions like this ENFPs routinely give a low number, because ENFPs hate doing small talk. But actually, compared to other people, ENFPs love social gatherings because they always get excited about the possibility there will be someone good there. You really have to have all 16 types in mind when you answer the questions so that you know where you fit relative to other people. Because understanding yourself relative to your surroundings forces the same question as the oversized chair on Swarthmore Colleges main lawn: are you really small or does your context exaggerate how you appear? And questions on the personality test are not as simple as mentally adjusting to the size of the chair. 3. The most frequently inaccurate letters are N, T, and J. This makes sense because these are the traits that school promotes your teachers tell you that if you exhibit these personality traits you will be successful (money and power) or righteous (or at least a reader). But most people dont like to read and they also dont care about money and power. So the misguided test results come from the (huge number of) people who spend their life trying to undo the pressure teachers put on them to be someone theyre not. Usually its only one of those letters that is not right. And a great thing about figuring out the wrong letter is you learn not only who the person is, but also how the person sees themselves. (This also means that ESFP and ISFP are types that are almost never inaccurate results. But those people never take the test; They donât need a test to know everyone likes them.) Another great thing about figuring out the wrong letter is the person with a fresh, shiny type result feels immensely relieved like finally their life makes sense. 4. Identifying personality traits is really about patterns. To figure out type, you look at patterns. For example, having a meal together is a common denominator that works to figure out what is different about a person. So the CEO of Schwab takes job candidates to dinner and has the waiter mess up the order. The CEO learns about how a person will function at work by seeing how they deal with this scenario in relation to how hundreds of other people have dealt. I do this at the very beginning of every coaching session. I say, Hi, this is Penelope. I have a big enough data sample now that I know a lot about someone just by how they respond. The words they say back to me are not really varied: maybe Hi, how are you? Or This is xxx. Or This is xx I have a call with you. Or something like that. But I can listen to the cadence and tone of their voice, the word choice and length, and the delay between sentences to figure out a lot about their type. If I combine that with the type they say they are, then I can tell within the first minute if the persons type is likely something different than they reported. Which is why I say its all about patterns. 5. I love the routine of coaching. At the $150 price point many people did not have a particular thing they wanted to talk about. They just wanted to hear what I would say to them. This never happens when people pay $350, and at first it made me nervous. But then I realized that I only see someones selected topic as a guideline anyway. So I realized I love the puzzle part of coaching trying to identify their personality type and their most pressing problem within the first five minutes. And I love the process of the person finding the topic both wildly unexpected and also wildly obvious (in hindsight). Its so easy to see other peoples lives and so much harder to see our own. Which is why so many people told me I needed a schedule and I didnt think it would make a difference. But then I loved having a coaching session at 7am and 10pm every day. So Iâm extending my offer for discounted coaching sessions. The normal rate is $350 for an hour, but if you book a session at 7am or 10pm Eastern you can pay $150. Use this link to make the $150 payment and Iâll send you an email to schedule a session.

OUI Putting the Past Behind and Starting Over Right
After Your DUI/OUI Putting the Past Behind and Starting Over Right There is no question that if you get convicted of a DUI or an OUI, these charges are going to change a number of things for you and can make life more difficult for you in the immediate aftermath of your brush with the law. You will need the services of a OUI lawyer to for the legal help you need in dealing with the situation, but after the dust has settled and you want to try and put the past behind you, here are a few pointers to help you get your life back on track. Dealing with the consequences It should be remembered that the consequences of a guilty verdict are likely to vary according to the state where your conviction occurred. Each state has a specific set of laws relating to DUI offenses and therefore your lawyer will no doubt advise you of the potential consequences relevant to your circumstances and charges. A conviction could mean that you experience a suspension of your driving privileges or a fine, and you may have to face up to the prospect of spending some time in jail or be instructed to take part in an approved alcohol program. There are a number of factors that tend to influence the punishment that you receive, such as whether this is your first conviction, the relevant facts appropriate to your case and even your behavior from the moment you are arrested and afterwards. Whichever way you look at it, there are consequences to contend with as a result of an alcohol-related conviction. Drawing a line and moving on If you could turn back the clock, many of us who have to face a DUI conviction, would do things differently and ensure that this unfortunate scenario didnât happen in the first place, but you just have to accept what has happened, and then aim to draw a line under the incident and set about trying to move on with your life. The most important thing to do in such difficult circumstances is to commit to a plan that allows you to move forward, accept a lesson learnt the hard way, and to avoid looking back other than to know how important it will be to comply with the laws regarding drinking and driving, in the future. The first step in your quest to put things back on track, should be to resolve that you will comply with all of the court orders made against you. You may have had several different court-ordered stipulations issued against you, regardless of how harsh or inappropriate you consider the punishment and stipulations, the road to redemption starts by making sure you comply with what the court has ordered. Be honest about whether you need help In may well be that your DUI conviction was out of character and an isolated incident that you have been duly punished for, but if you know that you have a problem with alcohol and there is a risk that you may well end up in a similar situation again, be honest with yourself and seek help if you think you need it. Only you know whether your conviction was a bad case of isolated irresponsible behavior coming back to bite you, or whether it was inevitable that sooner or later you were going to get caught, as a result of having a potential drink problem. You have to be honest with yourself and get help if you need it, if you are truly going to be able to move on and put what has happened behind you. Emotional turmoil is understandable Almost regardless of the circumstances surrounding your drink-driving conviction, there is every chance that your personal and work relationships might be affected in some way. This can create some emotional turmoil, if you find that your partner seems to feel differently towards you after the event or you might have to contend with losing your job as a result of the conviction. It is understandable that you might therefore experience some anxiety and stress, which could even trigger a bout of depression. If you are going to be able to move on and get your life back on track, it may well be that you could benefit from some counseling in order to help you to cope with the situation. This would obviously be a better option than considering alcohol or drugs in order to try and deal with how you are feeling after your conviction. Putting the past behind you is important, and equally important is the need to start over in the right way if you are going to succeed in getting your life and your future sorted. Noah Preston writes about life after his own OUI and the struggles he faced. His articles are aimed at helping others in the same situation, helping them to get their life back on track. UK Economy might be growing but public confidence in UK is not
UK Economy might be growing but public confidence in UK is not While the UK economy is growing, public confidence in the countryâs prospects is not, a Chartered Institute for Securities Investment (CISI) survey shows. Of 600 respondents to an online survey, 60% said they were more optimistic for the countryâs prospects compared to three months ago. When the CISI last ran the survey in autumn 2013, the proportion of those who considered that the outlook was brighter was 1% higher, at 61%. The stalling in the level of confidence follows doubling in optimism from the spring 2013 survey to the poll last autumn. Optimism about UK economy Concern that the housing market is overheating was highlighted in the survey as the number one threat to the UK economy, which grew by 0.8% in the first three months of the year. One contributor commented: âThe further inflation of the housing bubble that was never allowed to burst in 2009 is likely to lead to interest rate rises. This risks choking the nascent recovery in the real economy.â Another said: âThe economy is vulnerable to any shocks to the housing market.â However, on a brighter note, another respondent said: âIâm very optimistic and investing for the future.â The Institute has run the poll twice a year since spring 2012 to gauge opinion about the state of the economy. To take part in the latest CISI survey, see cisi.org 0

Can You Really Read 50 Books In A Year
Can You Really Read 50 Books In A Year Yes you can!!I did it!!evalI officially completed the 50 Books Challenge What do I have to lose?Maybe a few hundred dollars in purchasing books from Amazon. But people spend more than that on cigarettes and booze. I will spend that money on improving myself. This was more of an experimental challenge for me. I wanted to see if it was humanly possible to read 50 Books in a year. I was not going to win any award. Perhaps I can brag to my friends. But I was inspired to do it,Brian Tracyâs advice inspired me. And 2015 was the year to do it. And I got started on January 1st.Benefits I have experiencedevalOver the years I have read many books â" needless to say this has been one of the best habits I have cultivated in my life.In one of my previous posts I mentioned how important reading is to your career, and how it improves your productivity your career. Here are some of the Benefits I have gained by reading 50 Books this year.a) Increased KnowledgeevalOK- this is really obvious. The mo re reading you do the more knowledgable you become. You probably know this. But this point is worth repeating.I chose to read mainly personal development, business, sales, self-help books. And each of these books were filled with nuggets of information, ideas that I can use to improve my career. Some of the cool ideas I learnt about this year are:How to learn any skill fasterHow to go about negotiating complex deals. That charisma is not something you are born with but rather something that can be cultivatedGoogle is working on improving our life expectancy to over age 100About Gloria Steinem who was credited to be the greatest influencer in the 60s Feminist movement. How sneaky advertisers are and that they know more about us than we do.The list goes onâ¦Some of the insights I learnt from reading these books have helped me in my job â" especially negotiation.Did you know that by just flinching and not saying a word â" you might get a huge discount?b) Increased MotivationevalMotivat ion,Passion, Inspiration â" all these words are so common these days. You canât go a day without reading about any of this. Why is motivation important? It pushes you to get your job done and complete the tasks at done.We all have those moments when we get stuck or lose the drive. And in moments like those we need strategies to get us out of the funk.Throughout the year I have had periods where I was not motivated, I did not want to do anything, I was stuck â" but thanks to the books I have read- I was able to push through.I was reading a book on Selling, and the ideas in the book really pumped me up. I wanted to apply those strategies at work. I wanted to get to work just so that I can apply the ideas.evalA few weeks ago I was feeling extremely stressed at work. I was having one of those weeks where nothing was going in my favour. Prospects were not buying, nobody was picking up the phone, and I was scared that I am stuck in my job with no hope. Just then a thought popped into m y mind â"Go to the Balcony. That thought urged me to step out of the office to re-collect my thoughts ,and calm down. That allowed me to release the stress, and get back to work more relaxed. Ever since that I am having a great time at work.c) Ideas to writeI actively started writing posts for this blog in June this year. As you can imagine writing blog posts isnât an easy task. It is fun when the post is finished and some of your posts get exposure and shares. But the process itself could be stressful. The most stressful thing about writing or blogging it to come up with topics to write about. If you are a blogger you can probably relate to this. Thanks to my reading habit â" I am able to increase the topics that I can write on. This particular post came as a result of my reading habit :).Many of the articles that I write â" I share the ideas concepts I have picked up from few of the books I have read. This also allows me to recall the ideas and stories that I have read about.Wh en did I read?I was trying to follow Brian Tracyâs advice â" âRead an hour a day and that will help you finish one book a weekâ.However, this was difficult in the beginning.I was driving to work each day â" which took away 2 hours a day. At that point,I had to force myself to read in the evenings. I had to make time in my schedule to read. The only time I could find was before going to bed. Initially I cut off Television, Internet and Netflix. I read 30 to 40 minutes at night before going to bed. I found this mentally and physically exhausting. The commute, the winter and the fatigue from exercise were all putting a burden on my reading goals. But despite all that I ploughed through and kept on reading. One of the best decisions I made was to keep track by creating an excel spreadsheet.Check out this spreadsheet for a list of all the books I have read this year.As quoted by Peter Drucker â" âWhat gets measured, gets doneâ.I know it sounds lame to use an excel spreadsheet f or a reading habit. But trust me, it will really keep you accountable. You donât need a fancy app or an expensive software for this. Just use an excel spreadsheet. It will be one of the best self-accountability tools you can create for yourself. In January I was yet to finish reading my 1st book.By May 2015 my progress was slow â" I had only read 9 books till date. Half of the year was almost over and I only read 9 books. I had lots of catching up to do.Then something amazing happened.I got a new job. And I also decided to ditch my car. I decided to take advantage of public transit. My commute time was a bit higher -1 hour on the way to work and another 1 hour on the way back. The best thing about this was that I did not have to drive. So I can concentrate on reading. This is where things started accelerating my reading habit.I had 2 hours of reading time available for me. And I took advantage of that. From June 2015 to Oct 2015 ( a little over 5 months) I was able to ramp up to read the next 41 books.I hit my goal with another 8 weeks to go before the end of the year. That commute time was the magic. I put that time to good use.I did not necessarily finish every book I started. Some books did not resonate with me. I quickly scrapped those books off my list and went on to the next one.WHAT BOOKS DID I READ?As mentioned before, I created a simple spreadsheet to track my progress. Here is the link. All the books I read were non-fiction.I personally do not read fiction. My thought process on fiction is that if the book is good enough â" they will eventually make a Hollywood movie. And when the movie released I will just watch that. This chart shows the different Genres of the 50 Books I finished reading so far this year.As you can notice most of the books I have read were in the Self-Help Category. To simplify I have lumped motivation, life lessons, etc. all into self-help.The next highest genre I read was books on Sales. Since that is my https://ca.linkedin.com/in/ni ssarahamed it made total sense to read more on the subject to improve my skill-set.I purchased most of the Books from Amazon (36 out of 50) . The rest I borrowed from the Public Library or others.Had I known that I was going to be spending a lot of money at Amazon- I should have purchased some Amazon stocks early this year. Damn!!The author I read the most was Grant Cardone (4 books). The next authors I read most were Peter Diamandis, William Ury, Josh Kauffman (2 books each). The Top 3 books that have had the strongest impact on my life this year are:The 10X Rule by Grant CardoneThe 12 Week Year by Brian P Moran Micheal LenningtonThe Power of Habit by Charles DuhiggI will be writing individual articles to summarize the most important lessons I have learnt from each of these books. In summary â" 2015 was the best year in terms of the number of books I have read. There are 7 more weeks to go and I have already read 50 books. I spent $463 this year on purchasing books. I think that in vestment has paid off and will continue to yield more results in the coming years. As mentioned previously in the post, I have learnt a lot, I have got more productive, my income has gone up and I am in the best shape of my life. And numerous other benefits. In the coming posts I will write reviews on most of the books I have finished this year.Stay tuned!!

3 ways leadership and process impact culture - Wolfgang Career Coaching
3 ways leadership and process impact culture - Wolfgang Career Coaching Culture is one of the most important, yet often times intangible pieces to an organizations success. Does it seem like the values have all changed? The personality of your team, goals, and expectations are now different? Is it frustrating? Are you wondering what has happened to your company? It might be the culture. Culture is one of the most important, yet often times intangible pieces to an organizations success. Defined as the personality of a company, the culture includes many things such as work environment, team values, individual expectations, and in behaviors exhibited by team members. A common occurrence is an organization with incredible potential experiencing limitations due to a toxic culture. The good thing is that there are few things that can positively impact culture, and it comes down to leadership and process. Impacting Culture: Redesign the structure. The first thing you can do is rebuild trust, and one of the quickest, and most effective ways to do that includes tearing down walls; walls dictated by title or department. When a culture is broken, it longs for some consistency (think abou the âback to the basicsâ terminology). When you break down the walls, literally and figuratively, you open the door for collaboration, coordinated efforts, and trust to be rebuilt (Note: this will require leaders to be humbled). This sounds simple enough, but rebuilding trust takes time, commitment, and a lot of intentionality from organization leaders on down. Impacting Culture: Give your team a platform When trust is broken, so is an employeeâs motivation. As mentioned above, youâll need to rebuild trust in order to effectively communicate and maneuver through the problem(s). Once trust is build back up, be sure to give your employees a platform to express concerns, ideas, or what theyâre seeing from their perspective. This platform may come in the shape of 1:1 meetings, small coordinated conversations, or whole team collaborations (note: these are determined by the size of the organization the extent of the brokenness of the culture). By giving your team a platform you give them a voice, while also motivating them with their own verbiage; you also receive invaluable information / perspective regarding the culture. Impacting Culture: Donât hire just yourself âA manager cannot be 100% objective when working with employees on their personal and professional development. On one hand they may truly want to help you with your development. On the other hand, they canât âun-hearâ something.â One of the most common mistakes made while trying to fix a culture is to try and do it completely from within. By trying to change culture internally, you actually may just be enabling the negatives of it. While that is a tough pill to swallow, itâs also necessary to accurately understand and determine the best responses for an organizationâs culture that is wobbling. Changing a culture is difficult work. Itâs sometimes ugly. It takes time. But, it can be done! If you think that your companyâs culture isnât what you want it to be, our team would love to chat. Weâre not here to tell you how to run your organization. Weâre here to consult you in advancing the culture of the mission youâve worked so hard to create. Remember, culture is one of the most important, yet often times intangible pieces to an organizations success.
